Trailer Connector for Australia Standard Manufacturer

Date:2022-09-01
Australia has a variety of different trailer connector standards, including ISO 1724 and SAE J560. These standards establish the electrical connection used for trailers and are compatible with 12V vehicles. The most common trailer connectors are seven and twelve-pin types. Their number of pins corresponds to the number of wires in the trailer. The twelve-pin type is generally preferred, since it can be used to control various trailer functions.
A 12-pin type 3 trailer connector is recommended for auxiliary circuits. A seven-pin connector may be intercompatible with a 12-pin type 3, but it is not recommended for use with auxiliary circuits. Trailers with centres of less than one metre must have an efficient brake system. The brakes should be operable from the driver's seat of the towing vehicle.
Trailers over 3.5 tonnes ATM must be equipped with two safety chains. These chains should be able to withstand at least 800 MPa of breaking stress. In addition, they must meet the requirements of Australian Standard AS 2321-1979, 'Short Link Chain for Lifting Purposes (non-calibrated). Lastly, positive locking couplings must be able to be verified visually.
Trailers equipped with ball couplings must comply with Australian Standard AS 4177.3-2004 Caravan and light trailer towing components Part 3 - Coupling body. For this reason, it is important to ensure that the ball coupling is approved by the relevant authority. If it isn't, you'll be at risk of being fined for unsafe driving.
Trailers that are equipped with diodes and relays should use 58L connectors. These connectors should be capable of handling high currents, as diodes are used to balance the load on each circuit. Diodes are also used to control the relay that feeds the trailer.
Trailers with side-repeating indicators should be fitted to vehicles to indicate trailer direction. Semi-trailers with dimensions of over 7500mm may also be equipped with side-repeating indicators. This ensures that the driver is aware of the trailer's width and height. Moreover, the towing vehicle must have hazard warning lights for the trailer.
Trailers with electrical systems must have an earth return wire. This is an essential component for safety purposes, and must not be used in place of a safety chain. Moreover, the wiring of a trailer must be designed to withstand vibration. The wiring should also be of appropriate size and location. Road debris must be shielded from the electric wiring.
